Job Description
The design and execution of a cohesive patient logistics operation for the health system standardization of operations where appropriate, identification of efficiencies, financial oversight for area of responsibility, implementation of performance improvement plans, and administration of operating plans/goals. Works collaboratively with the Medical Director of ATC/Patient Logistics, Physician Chiefs and Administrators, Divisions' Leadership and other system leaders to achieve quality and safety standards and delivery of care models. resolve system and other types of issues that cause delays in the placement of patients to available beds. Keeps abreast of bed availability for the Hospital at large. Communicates frequently with the Emergency Services areas, the Transfer Center. The operating room and admitting (patient access services) to determine the number of beds needed. Works closely with the various departments i.e., Environmental Services, Pharmacy, patient transport, patient relations, social services, transfer center and admitting to facilitate the efficient placement of patients in the appropriate bed. Responsible for ensuring cooperation and positive interaction between the Patient Management Center and physicians, nursing leaders and nursing staff. Responsible for the 24-hour, day-to-day operations of the Patient Management Center. Oversees and coordinates successful transfer and bed placement of all patients. Work closely with medical and nursing directors to monitor quality of services provided by Patient Logistics. Interfaces with medical personnel, including physicians and nurses, to facilitate appropriate transport decisions and resolve conflicts when they arise. Some travel within our Health system is required.
Management and oversight of the Admit-Transfer Center (ATC) team (led by a manager) which serves all divisions of the health enterprise. This team determines 24/7, 365 days' appropriate bed assignments based on the clinical knowledge of disease entities epidemiological issues and conditions that may assist in deciding where a patient can be placed. Works closely with Central Staffing Office to ensure that staffing levels on inpatient floors and critical care units are appropriate to meet patient demands for beds. Possesses knowledge of all the units as the type of patients served.
Management and oversight of patient transport team(led by a manager). This team responds to calls for patient transport within and among the 4 hospitals on the downtown Charleston campus.
This person will oversee all 16 hospitals in the region, this includes 2400+ beds, this position will require some travel to the various regional hospitals once a quarter at most.

Qualifications:
* 5+ years in bedside nursing, nursing leadership, and patient logistics.
* Experience standing-up new or expanded operations preferred.
* Master's Degree required.
* Experience in level 1 trauma hospital system is preferred.
* Proven leadership, facilitative, critical thinking skills
* Excellent communication and mediation skills
* Proven ability to lead across a large, geographically dispersed organization and interdisciplinary teams
* Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
