Job Description
Insight Global has an opportunity for an R&D Engineer who supports aggressive product and technology design and development projects that align with growth and cost reduction initiatives. This position will work with cross-functional teams to development in-house programs to aid in the design, maintenance, and sales of Large AC motors (>500hp). Based in Greenville, SC, this position will help develop innovative solutions in Large AC motors.
Responsibilities Include:
Work with senior level R&D engineers to develop new products and tools to manage the products
Development of programs to interface with commercial ERP and engineering designs tools
Review and analyze a variety of engineering data, documents, and reports
Utilize ERPs (SAP, Teamcenter) to review and create concept design drawings
Work with Senior Engineers to perform FEM analysis of legacy and conceptual designs
Interpret regulatory standards and ensure designs meet standards
Write papers, participate in technical meetings, seminars, and conferences
Required Skills & Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
* 3+ years of experience in the electrical design and development, or application of electric motors
* 2+ years of experience in programing interfaces and add-ons for ERPs and commercial engineering tools, or PLCs.
*A Master's Degree in required field = Credit given for 2 years of work experience.
*A PhD/Doctorate in required field = Credit given for 3 years of work experience
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
* 5+ years of experience in either product application or development engineering of AC motors
* Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
* Knowledge in NEMA, IEC, CSA and IEEE electric motor standards
o MG-1 (NEMA), 60034-1 thru 34 (IEC), 22.2-1 thru 100 (CSA)
* Experience in 2D/3D finite element method modeling such as ANSYS Maxwell
* Experience in C#, Delphi, database interface program code (ABAP, SQL, etc.) and scripting-based validations
