Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Remote Compressor Design Engineer to join their team. This engineer will be doing both design and analysis work. For Analysis, they will be building 2D and 3D finite element models in Ansys for turbine components, running structural, modal or forced response analysis (with thermal and mechanical loads) followed by lifing (LCF, HCF, creep, fracture mechanics), postprocessing of modal results (frequency/Campbell diagrams creation) and postprocessing (joint behavior, burst, and other required criterion). The engineer will also be presenting in design reviews so must have strong communication. For Design, the engineer will support component owner of hardware to be designed or modified; includes responsibility for all aspects of design -- mechanical design, model/drawing definition, creating a Bill of Materials and releasing into PLM, supporting hardware procurement and manufacturing/assembly support. They will also work with drafting, sourcing, & manufacturing, and coordinate interfaces across aero, heat transfer and materials, and design teams. The engineer should have at least 3+ years' experience doing design work with Ansys Classic, and preferably familiarity with design, analysis, and manufacturing of gas turbine components (rotors, compressor blades, vanes, casings, VSV). This role is M-F, 40 hours per week, and working hours are flexible but roughly 8-4pm EST. The position is remote and candidates must be authorized to work in the US.

Required Skills & Experience

- 3+ years' experience designing in Ansys Classic

- Background in both design (2D/3D) and analysis

- Familiarity with various kinds of analysis such as structural, modal, & forced response.

- Preferably 3+ years' experience working with gas turbine components.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- NX Unigraphics experience

- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or similar

- GD&T knowledge and fundamental stack ups

- PLM -- product lifecycle management
