Job Description

We are seeking a Python Engineer to join a large healthcare company that is building a next-generation AI-powered document processing platform. This platform ingests high volumes of documents (e.g., prescriptions, faxes, warehouse orders), classifies them using AI, and routes them through the appropriate downstream workflows.
This role will focus on expanding and scaling the platform by enhancing document ingestion, processing logic, and AI-driven classification capabilities. The team is moving beyond initial POCs and actively building production-grade solutions to support pharmacy operations and broader enterprise use cases.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop scalable Python-based solutions for document ingestion and processing pipelines
• Build and enhance data engineering workflows to handle high-volume document streams (e.g., prescriptions, faxes)
• Implement business logic to process and transform documents based on requirements from pharmacy and operations teams
• Leverage AI/LLM tools (e.g., Gemini, Claude, Anthropic models) for document classification, extraction, and workflow automation
• Develop prompt engineering strategies (personas, task structuring, agentic workflows) to improve model accuracy and performance
• Optimize document handling workflows, including:
o Identifying and merging duplicate records
o Collapsing multi-line or multi-item documents into structured outputs
o Processing and standardizing PDF-based inputs
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to translate operational workflows into automated systems
• Support expansion of new use cases on the platform as adoption grows across the organization

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Python development
• Background in data engineering (ETL pipelines, data processing, handling unstructured data)
• Experience working with high-volume data systems
• Experience with prompt engineering and LLM optimization (e.g., personas, agent-based workflows)
• Familiarity with AI/ML or LLM-based solutions, particularly for document processing or classification

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Exposure to tools/models such as Gemini, Claude (Anthropic), or similar LLM platforms
• Experience processing PDFs and unstructured documents at scale
• Healthcare or pharmacy domain experience (prescriptions, fax workflows, etc.)

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
