Job Description
The AWS SRE Lead will own the architecture, stand-up, and operational maturity of AWS environments, serving as the primary technical leader for cloud reliability, scalability, and migration efforts. This role partners closely with application teams to design and deploy AWS infrastructure while leading SRE engineers responsible for ongoing platform stability, automation, and support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Own AWS Architecture & Platform Stand-Up
o Lead the design and implementation of AWS infrastructure from initial build through production readiness.
o Define reference architectures, security baselines, networking patterns, and operational standards across AWS environments.
• SRE Leadership & Operations
o Act as the SRE Lead, guiding engineers responsible for reliability, availability, monitoring, incident response, and performance optimization in AWS.
o Establish SRE best practices including SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, on-call processes, and automated remediation.
• Cloud Migration Leadership
o Lead and advise on cloud migration initiatives, particularly for legacy applications.
o Drive migration strategies (rehost, re-platform, refactor) for applications currently running on Windows-based infrastructure, including Node.js and SQL Server workloads.
• Application Team Collaboration
o Partner with application teams to design AWS-native infrastructure that supports modern application architectures.
o Transition ownership of deployed infrastructure to SRE engineers for long-term support and optimization.
• Operational Excellence & Optimization
o Implement observability, monitoring, and alerting solutions to ensure platform reliability and rapid incident resolution.
o Continuously improve cost efficiency, performance, and scalability across AWS environments

Required Skills & Experience
• Strong AWS Expertise
o Deep hands-on experience architecting, owning, and operating production-grade AWS environments.
• AWS Certifications:
o Associate-level (required)
o Professional level (preferred)
• Technical & Cross-Team Leadership
o Comfortable working directly with application teams, platform engineers, and leadership.
o Ability to translate architectural decisions into operationally sound, supportable solutions.
• SRE / DevOps Leadership & Experience
o Proven experience leading or serving as a senior SRE in cloud-first or cloud-migration environments.
o Experience standing up SRE practices in organizations transitioning into AWS.
• Cloud Migration Experience
o Demonstrated success migrating legacy applications to AWS, especially:
Windows Server–based applications, Node.js applications, & Microsoft SQL Server workloads
