Job Description

A mutual savings bank is looking for a strong Senior Network Engineer to join their IT team. The Bank currently has 10 branches and a trust and investment office, and will be opening up a new office in Providence RI. This role is required to sit onsite 5 days a week in Providence RI or Edgartown MA. The Bank prides itself on supporting their local community through exceptional customer service and their charitable foundation. They provide personal banking, business banking, residential lending, commercial lending and financial advising services.



Alongside the Head of IT, the Network Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network architecture on-premises and on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with direct collaboration with third-party providers. This position will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the Bank's network infrastructure with a strong emphasis on implementing and optimizing security measures to safeguard our network infrastructure.



The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for hands on networking as well as overall oversight to various network vendors that provide the Bank with network services. There is a strong emphasis for network security and Auth0 experience for authentication and authorization of applications/APIs within their network; as well as Implement and maintain network security groups, access controls and intrusion detection/prevention systems; Monitor third-party security solutions, ensuring seamless operation and adherence to service levels and KPIs; Monitor network traffic for signs of security threats and respond promptly to incidents conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions; conduct vulnerability assessments and Identity and Access controls.

The engineer should be familiar with supporting fiber broadband, network authentication services (Auth0), firewalls, load balancers, etc. The engineer should have a strong understanding of network best practices and be able to ensure the vendors are providing the best service. They will also be responsible for setting up the network in the new Providence RI office and provided supporting to local branches as needed. There are quite a few audit findings that need to be addressed in the environment so this resource will be helping remedy those findings.

Required Skills & Experience

- 8-10+ years in Network Engineer / Architect

- Strong hands on experience firewall configurations, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and other network security technologies

- Proficient in network protocols, routing, and switching technologies.

- Network security background (authentication/authorization; Auth0 preferred for API Security; Identity and Access Management such as Okta, Auth0, SAML, OpenID Connect etc)

- proficient in cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc)

- industry background in banking, financial services, or fintech STRONGLY preferred

- A network engineer degree, telecom engineer degree, or BS/BE degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or related IT fields

- experience working with third party vendors

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- network or security certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, CISA, CISSP, CISA, etc
