Job Description

One of our clients is looking for a Content Strategist to join their team to help transform how Pennsylvanians interact with state government online. As a content strategist, you will shape and manage content across PA.gov, ensuring it is user-friendly, accessible, and empowers residents to access vital services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in web content strategy, hands-on experience with content management systems, and a proven track record of delivering clear, user-centered content. You will collaborate across Commonwealth agencies to enhance web content and provide training to build capacity across teams. Develop and implement content strategies: Create and execute plans for developing user-centered web content that supports Pennsylvanians in accessing services.

- Write and edit content: Produce clear, concise, and accessible web content that aligns with plain language and accessibility standards.
- Use content management systems (CMS): Manage, publish, and maintain web content using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or similar platforms.
- Conduct content audits and inventories: Assess existing web content to ensure consistency, clarity, and alignment with user needs.
- Collaborate with teams: Partner with Commonwealth agencies and internal teams to support and optimize web content.
- Analyze web performance: Use analytics tools to monitor content performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain style guides and standards: Contribute to and apply content best practices and style guidelines for PA.gov.
- Support accessibility compliance: Ensure all content meets WCAG accessibility standards for diverse audiences.
- Train and mentor staff: Provide training and guidance to agency partners on content creation and management.
- Communicate clearly: Report on project progress, share updates, and present recommendations to stakeholders and team members.
- Understand user behavior: Research and incorporate user feedback, information architecture principles, and SEO into content strategies.

This is a remote role but candidates need to reside in the State of Pennsylvania and be willing to go onsite to Harrisburg on an as-needed basis.

Required Skills & Experience

3-5 years of experience in content strategy for the web, preferably in a government or public sector setting.
Hands-on experience with content management systems, such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
Proven ability to conduct content inventories, audits, and develop information architecture.
Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and creating content for diverse audiences.
Bachelor's degree in communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
