Job Description

Our large pharmaceutical client in Spring House, PA is seeking an Associate Scientist to join their growing their Protein Formulation, Quality Control & Inventory team within the R&D Biologics Discovery group. This individual will be responsible for supporting protein and nucleic acid formulation, quality control, inventory distribution, and compliance. The role will be primarily focused on facilitating sample requests submitted by various internal scientific teams. Responsibilities include:

-Assist with protein, nucleic acid, and cell inventory distribution and transition to a new laboratory information management system (LIMS)
-Communicate with stakeholders regarding sample inventory requests, providing timeline updates and collaborating with cross-functional teams to address any concerns or issues related to inventory or quality control
-Implement procedures to maintain accurate sample information within the inventory management system, providing commitment to consistency and quality control
-Communicate and coordinate fulfillment requests and auditing of sample date to ensure integrity
-Evaluate and test the quality of protein, nucleic acid and cell samples utilizing HPLC, FPLC, absorbance, gel electrophoresis, sterility testing and endotoxin testing.
-Analyze assay results to identify deviations and verify material quality meets specified standards
-Complete buffer exchange, formulation or regeneration of materials that are outside of desired specifications as needed
-Maintain organized inventory records and provide updates and effective communication to requestors
-Prepare detailed documentation in laboratory notebooks as needed with timely records of experiments, protocols and observations

Required Skills & Experience

-Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Biology, Biochemistry or a related field of study
-Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience working with Protein or DNA samples
-Experience with sample storage and inventory management within a sterile environment
-Strong communication skills and ability to manage urgent requests from internal customers across the enterprise

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-Sample QC -- Experience with HPLC, FPLC, absorbance, gel electrophoresis, sterility testing, NGS, or endotoxin testing
-Page analytical SEC
-Mammalian cell culture
-Protein purification
