Job Description
A mid size healthcare provider is seeking a Principal Cloud Platform Engineer to lead the next phase of its Azure transformation. This role will serve as a hands-on technical leader responsible for stabilizing, standardizing, and scaling a rapidly evolving cloud environment.
The cloud environment is mid-transformation—core processes, workflows, and governance are ~90% built but still evolving. This role will focus on bringing structure, enforcing best practices, and driving execution across Azure, while partnering closely with architecture to translate strategy into scalable, well‑engineered cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities
-Cloud Execution & Engineering (Hands-On)
-Design and build Azure solutions across infrastructure, networking, and application layers
-Develop infrastructure as code using Terraform/Terragrunt
Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks
-Support both new builds and on-prem to cloud migrations
Platform Stabilization & Improvement
-Help implement a defined roadmap of Azure improvements (including a large set of identified platform fixes)
- Ensure consistency in workflows, deployments, and documentation
- Bring structure to a fast-moving environment (“building while operating”)
Architecture Collaboration
-Partner closely with enterprise architects and translate design decisions into execution
-Lead and participate in cross-functional architecture sessions (3x/week)
-Engage directly with business and technical teams to gather requirements and understand full workflows
Governance & Process Enablement
- Support development and enforcement of cloud governance (RBAC, RACI, workflows, ARB alignment)
- Guide teams on proper process adherence and correct course when standards aren’t followed
- Help refine intake, build, and handoff processes (ServiceNow-based workflows)
Azure Platform Expansion
-Support adoption of Azure Fabric, Azure Foundry, and internal application development initiatives
- Work across teams on identity vs. access design, integrations, and platform ownership boundaries
