Job Description
Insight Global's Client is seeking a Financial Controller to join a well-established, growing construction company in a part-time, strategic oversight role. This position will play a critical role in bringing structure, visibility, and accountability to the company’s financial operations.
This is not a transactional accounting role, instead, this individual will partner with internal stakeholders and external accounting firms to ensure accuracy, improve processes, and strengthen financial controls. The ideal candidate is confident stepping into an environment that needs organization and cleanup, and can drive improvements without needing day-to-day direction.
Responsibilities:
-Oversee internal bookkeeping and external CPA firm activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency
-Review financials prior to external submission, ensuring completeness and correctness
-Manage and oversee month-end and quarter-end close processes
-Act as the primary liaison between internal teams and external accountants
-Identify and resolve discrepancies from historical financial reporting issues
-Track and manage multiple accounting, tax, and compliance-related initiatives simultaneously
-Oversee compliance requirements, including insurance audits and DOT-related audits
-Implement and improve financial processes, workflows, and internal controls
-Drive efficiencies to reduce rework, errors, and external accounting costs
-Provide high-level financial oversight and recommendations to leadership

Required Skills & Experience
-5+ years of accounting experience
-Experience operating at a Controller level, CPA background, or exposure to CFO-level responsibilities
-Strong experience in financial oversight, reporting review, and internal controls (not transactional accounting)
-Experience overseeing or coordinating with external accounting firms
-Demonstrated ability to improve financial processes and bring structure to disorganized environments
-Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and correct discrepancies
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
-Audit or internal controls background
-Experience in construction or project-based industries
-QuickBooks experience
-Experience with financial cleanup or remediation work
-Prior experience in a small to mid-sized or family-owned business environment
