Job Description
The Senior Consultant is a core member of the project team, providing day-to-day leadership on management consulting engagements for retail and supply chain clients, primarily onsite. This role owns workstreams end-to-end (plan → analysis → recommendation → implementation plan), delivers high-quality client-ready outputs across workforce management, productivity improvement, engineered labor standards, and operational assessments, and manages client relationships and project execution.
Senior Consultants independently lead workstreams, manage and coach junior team members, and partner with the Project Manager/Engagement Lead to ensure successful delivery. Travel is required.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead projects or engagement workstreams end-to-end, owning workplans, milestones, deliverables, and execution (time & motion studies, work measurement, cost-benefit analysis, process re-engineering)
Provide daily project leadership, including task planning, prioritization, progress tracking, and status reporting
Lead onsite diagnostics and current-state assessments (interviews, process mapping, floor observations, time studies, and data validation)
Serve as the primary client counterpart for assigned workstreams; manage stakeholder alignment across client and internal teams
Design future-state processes, capabilities, and enabling technologies to improve operational performance
Research and apply emerging methods and technologies to drive measurable efficiency gains
Build and oversee core analyses and models (KPI baselines, volume-to-labor/capacity models, productivity sizing) to support quantified business cases
Develop and deliver engineered labor standards, including documentation, governance, rollout, and sustainment support where applicable
Translate analysis into actionable recommendations and implementation-ready roadmaps across people, process, and technology
Facilitate workshops and working sessions; synthesize outputs into clear action plans and executive-ready presentations
Support business development through proposals, presentations, and new client opportunities as needed
Manage and develop junior team members through delegation, coaching, and quality assurance
Identify risks, constraints, and dependencies; propose mitigation plans and escalate as needed
Maintain strong productivity across onsite, remote, and independent work environments
Travel extensively (typically 80–100%) across the U.S., with occasional international travel
Working Conditions
May include non-standard and physically demanding environments, such as:
- Evening, overnight, and weekend shifts
- Continuous walking and standing
- Client sites with varied and extreme temperatures

Required Skills & Experience
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
- 3–7 years of consulting experience applying industrial engineering principles
- Experience leading onsite client work in retail and/or supply chain environments
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and executive-level communication skills
- Experience managing or mentoring analysts/consultants
- Willingness to travel for client delivery
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Proven ability to build strong client relationships and lead teams
- Knowledge of change management and influencing implementation
- Mastery of core IE methods (labor standards, MOST, work measurement, Lean, standard work, capacity planning)
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Reliable transportation and access to a major U.S. airport
