Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Platform Manager to lead, manage, and scale enterprise data platforms. This role owns the reliability, scalability, security, and governance of data platforms built on Databricks and Azure, while leading cross‑functional engineering teams and partnering closely with business, security, and compliance stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

Own and oversee enterprise data platforms (Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Azure SQL, Azure DevOps)
Define platform architecture standards, best practices, and technology roadmaps
Drive platform scalability, cost efficiency, performance, and operational reliability
Lead platform modernization initiatives, including cloud migration and consolidation
Manage, mentor, and develop data engineering and platform teams
Drive talent development, performance management, and succession planning
Foster a collaborative, accountable, high‑performing engineering culture
Ensure compliance with SOX IT controls and audit requirements
Partner with Audit, Security, and Compliance to design, maintain, and evidence controls
Support audit activities through documentation, evidence, remediation, and follow‑up
Own and enforce data governance, access management, and data quality standards
Lead Change Management for platform releases, upgrades, and incidents
Establish and enforce ITIL‑aligned operational processes
Own SLAs, KPIs, and platform operational metrics to drive operational excellence
Translate business requirements into scalable platform capabilities and delivery plans
Collaborate with enterprise architecture, analytics, product, and business leaders
Manage vendors and strategic data platform partnerships
Contribute to the organization’s long‑term data and analytics strategy

Required Skills & Experience

14+ years of progressive experience in data platforms, data engineering, or enterprise data management
Hands‑on, current experience with Databricks and Azure data platforms (Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Azure SQL)
Proven people management experience leading and scaling data/platform engineering teams
Strong background in SOX IT controls, audit support, and internal control frameworks
Experience with Change Management and ITIL‑aligned processes (Change, Incident, Problem Management)
Strong understanding of enterprise data governance, access controls, and data quality standards
Bachelor’s degree required
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, verbal, and written communication skills
Demonstrated leadership ability and experience building high‑performing engineering teams

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

7+ years of data processing, systems analysis/design, and operations experience
3+ years of formal people management or supervisory experience
Experience with cloud modernization, platform consolidation, and large‑scale migrations
Project management experience delivering large, complex, enterprise initiatives
Experience partnering with Audit, Security, and Compliance teams in regulated environments
Vendor management and strategic technology partnership experience
Contribution to long‑term enterprise data and analytics strategy
