Job Description

A mid-size hospital system in Philadelphia, PA is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer offshore to guide the organization through its cloud transformation journey. This role will act as a technical lead for a team of 4 junior engineers and 1 senior engineer, coordinating requests, stabilizing processes, and driving best practices in cloud and DevOps.

Key Responsibilities:
• Leadership & Coordination:
o Serve as the lead for the cloud engineering team, prioritizing requests, and ensuring smooth execution.
o Step in with hands-on support when backlog persists or staff are ramping up.
• Cloud Strategy & Standardization:
o Implement and enforce DevOps/FinOps best practices for cloud resource utilization.
o Design a streamlined request process that is clear and manageable for stakeholders.
o Act as a subject matter expert to translate business needs into technical requirements (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, AVS, Azure spoke/hub architecture).
• Pipeline & Automation:
o Build and improve Azure pipelines and deployment processes in an environment with limited existing automation.
o Develop repeatable frameworks for security, version control, and best practices.
• Technical Expertise:
o Strong knowledge of Azure services, including deployment and interaction of components.
o Terraform (required); Azure DevOps (preferred).
o Understanding of solution architecture to vet third-party designs for cost and compliance.
• Cloud Migration:
o Support the organization’s cloud journey from 30% to 80–90% adoption, including VMware migration.
o Ensure scalability for a medium-sized business environment.

Required Skills & Experience

- Extensive background deploying Azure cloud services using Teraform
- Proven experience leading technical teams (cloud experience preferred but not mandatory).
- Hands-on experience building DevOps pipelines and managing version control.
- Ability to design and implement secure, efficient deployment processes.
- Understanding of Cloud Solution Architecture to vet designs done by 3rd party partners
