Job Description

A client of Insight Global is seeking a Director of Finance to lead all financial operations and ensure organizational sustainability for a mission-driven nonprofit. This role blends hands-on execution with strategic leadership, overseeing budgeting, cash flow management, audits, compliance, and daily accounting functions such as AP/AR, payroll, and medical billing. The Director will manage multiple grants and funding streams, prepare financial reports for the CEO and Board, and collaborate across departments to provide actionable insights. Additional responsibilities include overseeing insurance policies, leases, and contracts, partnering with HR on benefits planning, and maintaining strong relationships with banks, auditors, and funders while staying current on financial best practices.

Key Responsibilities
Develop annual budgets and manage cash flow with the CEO
Oversee daily accounting operations (AP/AR, payroll, medical billing)
Ensure compliance with regulations and grant requirements
Prepare and present financial reports to leadership and Board
Manage audits and resolve findings promptly
Administer multiple grants and funding streams
Collaborate across departments and maintain stakeholder relationships

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 4+ years in nonprofit leadership
Non-proft experience
Proven ability to manage multiple grants and diverse funding streams
Strong communication skills to collaborate across all departments
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
Hands-on experience with QuickBooks and integrated HR/payroll systems

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Master’s Degree
CPA certification
Experience with insurance policies, audits, and compliance
Familiarity with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to lead strategic financial planning while managing day-to-day operations
