Job Description

This role is for our large software client, this person must go onsite in Herndon, VA 1-3x per week.



An administrator doing an Okta implementation is responsible for configuring and managing the identity and access management system for an organization. The administrator needs to understand the business requirements, security policies, and user roles of the organization, and then design and implement a solution that meets those needs. The administrator also needs to monitor and troubleshoot the system and provide support and training to the end users. An Okta implementation can help the organization achieve better security, efficiency, and user experience. This person will manage Okta more on the engineering/architect side, implementing the procedures that they hand over to the administration. This is the person who manages the architecture. They are the process of maturing it. Adding 50+ more applications, functional roles, "moonshot" project implementing Okta on the Cloud side after they do it for internal IT.



Identity and Access Management Administration is a crucial role in any organization that needs to secure and manage the access of its users and resources. Some of the tasks and skills involved in this role are:



- Active directory: This is a directory service that stores information about users, computers, groups, and other objects on a network. It allows administrators to create, modify, delete, and organize these objects and apply policies and permissions to them.

- Okta: This is a cloud-based identity and access management platform that provides single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, lifecycle management, and identity governance for various applications and services.

- Azure AD or Entra: This is a solution that integrates Azure Active Directory with Entra, a Norwegian access control system. It allows users to access Entra's physical doors and gates using their Azure AD credentials and mobile devices.

- PowerShell scripting and automation: This is a scripting language and a command-line shell that enables administrators to automate tasks and manage systems using cmdlets, scripts, functions, and modules.

- Lots of data pulls for reporting: This is a process of extracting data from various sources and generating reports that provide insights and analysis on the identity and access management activities and performance.

- Workflows in Okta: This is a feature of Okta that allows administrators to create custom workflows that automate identity and access management processes such as provisioning, deprovisioning, updating, and synchronizing user accounts across different applications and systems.

- PKI -- internal certificate authority: This is a system that uses public key cryptography to issue and manage digital certificates that authenticate the identity of users, devices, and servers on a network. An internal certificate authority is a self-managed PKI that operates within an organization's network.

- RSA administration: This is a task of managing RSA SecurID, a multi-factor authentication solution that uses tokens or devices to generate one-time passwords or codes for verifying the identity of users.

- MFA administration: This is a task of managing multi-factor authentication, a security method that requires users to provide two or more pieces of evidence to prove their identity before accessing a system or resource.

- Group policy administration: This is a task of managing group policy, a feature of Active Directory that allows administrators to apply settings and restrictions to users, computers, and groups on a network.

Required Skills & Experience

- 6+ years in a System Administrator or Engineering position working in a hands-on technical role

- Experience managing Okta and specifically having done a full Okta Suite implementation (not just a few of the suite's applications)

- Active Directory admin experience

- Has worked in a Cloud environment, specifically Azure, has Azure AD or Entra experience

- Must go onsite to Herndon, VA 1-3x per week

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Any Okta certifications

- Experience leveraging an HR system as a single source of truth
