Job Description

The Network Analyst role is to ensure the stability and integrity of the network. This is achieved by assisting in the planning, designing, and developing LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and VOIP across the organization. In addition, the Analyst will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network / telecommunication hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.



Participates in strategic and long-range planning for campus network and telecommunication services.



Provides Manager with appropriate updates detailing progress made on assigned tasks, projects and break/fix problems. Notify manager of any problems encountered or anticipated with the tasks assigned and keeps manager informed of the estimated time required to complete each task.





Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment and/or systems.



Provides technical oversight and assignment, supervision, and review of work performed by student employees.



Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.



Works with internal customers and external suppliers.



Off-hour and weekend work is not expected but may be required - this person will be on a roating on call shift is for 1 week every 3rd week.The position reports to the Manager of Network and Telecommunication Services.



Ensure network stability and monitor network regularly.

Prepare and maintain networking documentation network and cabling layouts.

Troubleshoot and resolve LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VOIP and VPN related problems.

Cooperate with management to develop staff and improve their skills.

Respond to Help Desk telephone calls, emails, and personnel requests for technical support in a timely and courteous manner.

Maintain an inventory of network /telecommunication property and assets.

Provide technical support and monitors day to day operations of the network infrastructure.

Maintain quality service by following organization standards.

Report on network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree - Technical degree in management information systems, computer technology, computer science or related field preferred.



Knowledge of fundamental principles, methodologies and procedures utilized in administering and monitoring network and telecommunication procedures.



Experience in network, systems and data security is required; knowledge of various security tools and equipment used to secure networks, servers, and data is required; proven experience in following standards and processes for a secure computing environment.



Ability to create professional documentation



Experience working with tools such as alcatel lucent, Aruba, Palo Alto, Cisco, and Splunk



Must be able to work with people at all levels of the organization, manage multiple initiatives with deadlines, respond quickly to new changing situations and work well under pressure while maintaining individual and team effectiveness.



Ability to maintain confidential data in accordance with established policies and procedures.



Willingness to work as a contributing member of the team including other systems personnel, the operations staff, and the account administrators.
