Our client, a Real Estate Alternative Lender, is looking to add an Underwriter to their Philadelphia HQ. The role will be
instrumental in their mission to deliver efficient working capital to real estate investors throughout the country. This person will be working with every facet of the business to deliver incredible service to our customers during the underwriting stage of a loan while managing risk. Additionally, they will be challenged to enhance controls, guidelines and proactive communication to loan officers. Lastly, you will play a key role in scaling the company for sustainable growth.
Corporate Mandates:
- Proficient in underwriting a real estate deal both 1-4 unit and multifamily properties.
- Expert in company and investor guidelines for each loan product.
- Ability to become an expert in developing sounds controls to processes.
- Identify solutions to present to management team to address loan exceptions.
- Proactively communicate exceptions on loans to loan officers and processing teams.
- Proficient in understanding the loan closing process and title requirements.
- Becoming an expert in real estate lending, specifically to real estate investors.
- Operationally driven to eliminate wasteful steps utilizing systems and technology as means to automate tasks and enhance controls.
Responsibilities:
- A disciplined approach to run the underwriting process.
- Proactively communicate with loan officers, loan processing and underwriting.
- Manage offshore team members to help with scalability.
- Understand underwriting requirements for each investor and loan product type.
- Identify areas to improve processes, timelines, and communication.
- Desire to lead a team and build upon a continuous improvement mindset.
- Build a team-based approach and culture that creates raving fans.
the comp will be base + incentive bonus. bonus ranging from $6-12k annually
3+ Years experience in a high volume underwriting role, in the mortgage or lending field
