Software Engineer III

Meta Reality Labs Research Pittsburgh is dedicated to the research and development required to bring virtual and augmented reality to billions of people around the world. We are focused on making interpersonal social experience in virtual reality and augmented reality perceptually indistinguishable from real life in-person interactions.

Youre a Software Engineer with experience building continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines and are highly proficient in Python or C. You enjoy building high performance systems and are not daunted by ambitious complex and ambiguous challenges. You're always on the lookout for better faster and more impactful solutions. You have a deep understanding of computing at multiple levels of abstraction from theory to hardware interfaces to operating systems to user facing applications and large-scale distributed systems. You understand contemporary software design and engineering practices. You thrive in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.

Minimum qualifications

3 years of Python experience
Experience with building continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines
Experience with software development practices such as source control code reviews unit testing debugging and profiling
Experience with software development and debugging on Windows and Linux
Proven track record of shipping software
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Create and extend continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines with hardware-in-the-loop
Develop software to interface with a variety of off-the-shelf and custom sensors

Collaborate with Research Scientists and Software Engineers to optimize development pipelines
Develop reliable maintainable and scalable software

Preferred qualifications

Masters in Computer Science or a related field
3 years of C experience including modern C features and techniques
Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing
3 years of professional experience
Proficient with software development practices such as source control code reviews unit testing debugging and profiling
Proficient with software development and debugging on Windows and Linux
Experience with development and debugging of distributed systems
Experience with Robotics
Experience with Visualization
Experience with Networking
