Job Description

One of Insight Global's large healthcare clients is looking for a Formula and Milk Technician to join their team. The Formula Tech performs a variety of tasks related to the preparation and delivery of formula and human milk orders including, but not limited to: use of patient electronic medical record to process orders; verification of products & order volumes; calculation of feeding; order preparation & delivery; processing of human milk (skimming or pasteurizing donor human milk); product inventory and stocking of designated supply areas; ware washing; general cleaning; waste stream management; and maintenance of required records. In a typical day, this team handles 300 formula orders and 100 human milk orders in the lab. This is a fast-paced team dedicated to supporting preemies to sick children and adolescents. This person will use their critical thinking skills and ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, and metric measures to prep all formula and human milk. Additional responsibilities include:

* Assures accurate and timely completion and delivery of feeding orders. Proactively communicates any concerns that may cause delay or interruption in service.

* Communicates with manager, ordering clinician and/or Registered Dietitians (RD) regarding patient formula and/or human milk orders that require clarification or substitution.

* Assists in training other employees in formula and human milk preparation and proper techniques as needed.

* Maintains confidentiality of patient information.



Schedule:

- FT -- 8:30am-5pm or 3pm-11:30pm (40hr work week with some weekend shifts)

- PT - 8:30am-5pm or 3pm-11:30pm (20-36hr work week with some weekend shifts)

- Will be a rotating schedule for the first few weeks, but then they will have a consistent schedule that is sent out every 2 weeks ahead of time.

Required Skills & Experience

At least 1 of the following qualifiers:

- inpatient hospital or WIC experience

- formula human milk prep experience

- pharm tech w/ inpatient, sterile and compounding experience

- nutrition background

- dietetic tech registered

- dietetic tech background

- BA in nutrition/ current student



Other Requirements:

- Basic knowledge of math concepts (multiplication formulas, measuring liquids)

- High school diploma/GED

- Comfortable working a rotating schedule (weekends and holidays at times)

- COVID and Flu Vaccinated

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Pharmacy, Diet Tech or formula/human milk preparation experience in a pediatric environment

- Serv Safe Certification (SSC) from the National Restaurant Association (NRA), within one year of hire date

- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)

- Dietetic Technician-Registered (DTR) issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
