Job Description

A client in the Portland, Oregon area is looking for a Data Warehouse Engineer to join their team! This is a Direct Hire/Permanent Position where you will be on a team to help them architect, design, and build a data warehouse from the ground up. This position will be remote, but you will need to be local to the Portland area to join meetings, etc. This company has a current data repository with automated data feeds currently, but the data isn't in the format of a typical data warehouse. Therefore, it is impacting their ability to generate Power BI reports quickly/accurately for the business. In this role you would be responsible for designing/architecting their data warehouse as a green field project. In this position you will convert existing ETL processes to populate the data warehouse with data, and configure a dashboard that shows the status of the data warehouse, and ETL jobs with notifications sent when failures occur, and train developers on system architecture including best practices for: How to add new data sources and set up new ETL jobs, maintain and troubleshoot the existing data sources, and what they need to know to maintain the whole data warehouse system. Also, how to best support Power BI developers in the creation of their reports as requested by multiple internal business orgs. If this sounds like a role of interest, please apply today!

Required Skills & Experience

4+ years of experience as a SQL Server Developer, Database Engineer, or BI Engineer

Previous experience building a data warehouse from the ground up

3+ years of Azure cloud experience, Synapse experience would be preferred

3+ years of experience with Azure Data Factory or SSIS

3+ years of ETL experience to populate the data warehouse with data

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with OLAP cubes

Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent

Experience with SSRS
