Job Description

The Senior Systems Engineer plays a critical role within the Technical Operations team, requiring hands-on expertise, independent initiative, and active mentorship. Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, this position provides strategic and tactical guidance for the design, implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of compute, storage, and backup environments. The role focuses on ensuring high availability, performance, and security of IT infrastructure, while proactively monitoring system health, recommending improvements, and resolving technical issues. The engineer will also lead or contribute to projects involving system implementations, upgrades, and migrations across multiple teams.

Act as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex technical challenges.
Establish and enforce best practices for system security, performance, and reliability.
Perform essential technical functions including:

Server administration (primarily Windows, with Linux as a plus)
Data center operations
Observability tool configuration and management
Patch and vulnerability management
Incident response and resolution
Documentation and compliance reporting


Recommend, design, and implement improvements to existing tools and technologies.
Collaborate across teams to execute infrastructure-related projects requiring evaluation of business processes and industry standards.
Mentor junior and mid-level team members to support their professional development.
Assess emerging technologies and provide recommendations based on organizational needs and trends.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 5 years of experience in systems administration, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership capacity.
Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, VCP, CompTIA Security+) are desirable.
Strong background in enterprise infrastructure technologies including virtualization, storage, and networking.
Experience designing and implementing solutions for high availability, resiliency, and business continuity.
Familiarity with tools such as Azure, Exchange/M365, VMware, monitoring platforms, and ITSM systems is preferred.
Proven ability to lead complex IT projects from planning through execution.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across all levels.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Expert-level proficiency in Windows operating systems; Linux experience is a plus.
