This position is remote and can sit in the states of AK, WA, OR, CA, TX and MT.
An ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Senior Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of data integration processes within an organization. They play a crucial role in testing and validating the ETL systems, identifying and resolving any issues, and ensuring the smooth functioning of data pipelines. Here are some key skills and knowledge areas that are typically expected from an ETL Senior Test Engineer:
ETL Testing: Strong understanding of ETL concepts, methodologies, and best practices. Ability to design and execute test cases and scenarios to validate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes. Familiarity with ETL tools and frameworks such as Informatica, Talend, or SSIS.
Data Warehouse Concepts: Proficiency in data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling. Understanding of data integration architectures, data quality, and data governance principles. Knowledge of data warehouse design patterns and methodologies.
SQL and Database Skills: Expertise in SQL querying and manipulation of relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL). Ability to write complex SQL queries to verify data integrity, perform data validation, and troubleshoot issues. Understanding of database structures and optimization techniques
Test Automation: Experience with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Cucumber, JUnit) to automate ETL testing processes. Knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Java, or PowerShell for test automation and data manipulation.
Data Profiling and Validation: Proficient in data profiling techniques to analyze and understand data quality, completeness, and consistency. Ability to identify anomalies, data anomalies, and patterns to ensure accurate data transformation and loading. Understanding of data validation techniques and methodologies.
ETL Tools and Technologies: Familiarity with popular ETL tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, IBM DataStage, Talend, or Microsoft SSIS. Knowledge of their features, capabilities, and configuration options. Ability to troubleshoot ETL tool issues and provide recommendations for optimization.
Testing Methodologies: Strong understanding of software testing methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and experience working in testing lifecycles. Knowledge of test planning, test case design, test execution, defect tracking, and reporting. Familiarity with testing tools such as Jira, HP ALM, or TestRail.
Data Security and Compliance: Awareness of data security and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA) and their implications on ETL testing. Knowledge of data masking, encryption, and anonymization techniques. Understanding of access controls, data privacy, and data governance practices.
Troubleshooting and Debugging: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues in ETL processes. Ability to analyze logs, error messages, and system behavior to diagnose problems. Familiarity with debugging tools and techniques.
Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, data engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders. Ability to clearly document test plans, test cases, and test results. Strong presentation and reporting skills.

Bachelor's Degree Related Field Or equivalent educ/experience
8 years equivalent experience, Most recent as a TEST ENGINEER
Previous Healthcare experience
Strong ETL Testing experience with SQL
Data Warehouse Concepts, can explain and map them.
