Job Description
The Senior Manager of Network Engineering has overall responsibility for all the activities pertaining to the Vision, Architecture, Design, Engineering and Operations of the corporate and store network and infrastructure. The role requires strong cross functional leadership and personal skills as well as substantial technical experience and expertise. While carrying out these ongoing activities, he/she ensures that the organization's standards and operational SLA's are adhered by him/her. Provide a modern technology infrastructure that is resilient and delivers the performance necessary to meet the demands of our corporate and dealership customer base. The individual must have the ability to clearly communicate with stakeholders through both oral and written communications. The Senior Manager of Network Engineering reports to the Director of Network Engineering and Unified Communications.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership, direction, and guidance to the technical teams
* Oversees a team responsible for architecting, engineering, supporting, troubleshooting, enhancing, and implementing our Local and Wide Area Networks.
* Drives the technology strategy for network operations including platform performance and availability, platform monitoring, routing protocols, voice services, LAN and WAN technologies, including mobile device integration, video conferencing and cloud services, releases, upgrades, and changes.
* Oversee and manage all aspects networking including technical leadership
* Defines standard processes to manage voice services including routing, infrastructure support, availability, service restoration, diagnostics, tuning, and remediation plans.
* Develop and implement policies, procedures, documentation, technical KPIs and SLAs for network & telecommunications services portfolio.
* Develop a budget for lifecycle management and continuous network and infrastructure upgrades.
* Demonstrate in-depth management knowledge of telecommunications and network components
* Works collaboratively with the IT Security Team to develop standards, best practices, architecture and systems to ensure information system security across the enterprise.
* Assess current technology architecture for vulnerabilities, weaknesses and for possible upgrades or improvement
* Lead a team responsible for the design of overall network architecture for enterprise data center including cloud and hybrid-cloud based deployments.
* Ensure network and systems are stable, secure and resilient to provide maximum uptime to our customers
* Ensure the security hardening and vulnerability patching of the organization's networks and infrastructure
* Ensure capacity and throughput needs are met at each of our remote locations (stores)
* Evaluates the organization to ensure compliance with standards and relevance with industry norms.
* Achieves system security operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
* Provide coordination of vendor related troubleshooting efforts for a variety of circuit types (MPLS, Point to Point, MetroE, SDWAN and private fiber circuits)
* Meraki WIFI network design, deployment, and management
* Regular review of site, infrastructure, and network security to ensure risks are proactively managed and suitable recommendations are provided for corrective action to be taken
* Lead investigations of business impacting network outages and recommends solutions; prepares reports on intrusions as necessary and provides analysis summary to management
* Establishes and maintains trusted relationships with customers, partners, and other departments to build an information technology strategy that responds to the business vision, goals, and strategy
* Knowledge of vulnerabilities in various network and firewall operating systems in relation to hardening, configuration, deployment, and administration
* Manage key vendor relationships and develop strategic alliances
* Other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Experience
* Work effectively as a member of a team, sharing information about new technologies, identified problems, and discovered solutions with other members of the department
* In-depth understanding of routing protocols (such as Border Gateway Protocol [BGP]), LAN technologies (including VLANs, STP, VXLAN), WAN technologies (including virtual routing and forwarding contexts [VRFs], Ethernet VPN [EVPN], dark fiber, and Ethernet delivery), firewall technologies (SSL decryption, remote access VPN, site-to-site VPN, architecture, and placement), client/server architectures, system design, QoS, load balancers, forward/reverse proxies, converged storage, and converged voice to administrative network services.
* Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills
* Proven experience supporting large-scale network implementations and upgrades and delivering reliable and quality network service
* Perform teambuilding and foster an appealing work environment based on trust, respect, and competence.
* Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency.

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Security or related field or equivalent experience
