Job Description

The Director, Scientific Applications Delivery is responsible for the organization’s entire Scientific Application Portfolio. This senior leader will partner with GIS, business leadership, and other senior stakeholders to develop and execute the five-year Scientific Portfolio vision, strategy, and global digital roadmap.

Key responsibilities include:
— Provide global strategy and leadership for practical, flexible, scalable, reusable, and secure scientific application solutions.
— Lead the delivery and support of enterprise scientific applications across both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) environments.
— Develop enterprise application delivery teams and continuously improve delivery speed, information flow, workflow efficiency, and solution quality.
— Establish and maintain the global vision, strategy, governance, and programs required to protect information assets and technologies.
— Identify, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide processes that reduce IT and operational risk.
— Partner with enterprise leaders to prioritize initiatives and balance information risks with business needs.
— Manage relationships with major vendors and service providers to ensure cost-effectiveness and alignment with organizational requirements.
— Build strong relationships across GIS and champion operational efficiency and resiliency.
— Act as an Agile champion by building high-performing teams, removing organizational barriers, and improving ways of working.
— Lead, coach, develop, and performance-manage employees while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.

Required Skills & Experience

— 10+ years of experience at the Senior Manager or Director level within an IT environment.
— Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
— Demonstrated experience leading and supporting systems across both IT and OT environments.
— Experience with large enterprise application platforms, including internally hosted, externally hosted, and SaaS solutions.
— Demonstrated experience with IT governance and GxP controls in a regulated environment.
— Strong knowledge of Canadian, U.S., and European Union pharmaceutical regulatory guidelines.
— Experience with scientific application environments, such as Laboratory Information Management Systems, chromatography systems, Quality Management Systems, or Scientific Data Repository systems.
— Demonstrated experience providing global leadership and managing virtual or globally distributed teams.
— Ability to develop a strategic vision and translate it into successful execution and measurable results.
— Strong people-leadership skills, including the ability to empower front-line IT team members while providing appropriate senior-management guidance.
— Excellent organizational, leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
— Strong interpersonal and relationship-management skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal customers, senior executives, external vendors, and agencies.
— Strong business acumen, including executive relationship-building and budget/P&L management.
— Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

— Direct experience with Empower chromatography software.
— Experience leading Agile transformations or acting as an Agile champion.
— Experience managing major technology vendors and outsourced service providers.
— Experience developing or executing a multiyear scientific application portfolio strategy.
