Job Description

The Automation Testing SME, Script Developer and Tester is responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining automated and manual testing solutions to support multiple Grid Technologies projects. This role will primarily leverage Katalon Studio to design and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks, while providing hands-on testing support across a diverse portfolio of initiatives. Candidates with strong experience in Katalon Studio are preferred; experience with comparable automation tools and the ability to quickly learn Katalon will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using Katalon Studio
Design reusable automation components and frameworks to improve testing efficiency across multiple projects.
Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for client and cloud-based Web application, and end-to-end business process validation to improve software quality and testing efficiency.
Create and maintain test plans, test cases, test data, and testing documentation.
Analyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with developers, business analysts, and project teams to resolve issues.
Provide recommendations on automation best practices and contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes.
Support CI/CD and automated testing practices where applicable.
Balance testing activities across multiple Grid Technologies projects, adapting to changing priorities and project needs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable solutions.
Refactor and optimize existing automation assets to improve code quality, reduce maintenance effort, eliminate hardcoded values, and increase framework flexibility
Manage automation source code repositories using GitLab, including branch management, code versioning, merge requests, code reviews, and adherence to source control best practices.
Collaborate closely with QA Managers, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements, identify automation opportunities, and ensure appropriate test coverage.
Analyze test execution results, investigate automation failures, perform root-cause analysis, and work with development teams to resolve defects and improve application quality.
Monitor automation effectiveness, test coverage, execution trends, and quality metrics to identify opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Experience

Qualifications
2–4 years of experience in software testing, with a combination of automation and manual testing.
Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
Hands-on experience with Katalon Studio is strongly preferred.
Experience creating and maintaining automated test scripts and executing functional, integration, and regression testing.
Basic scripting or programming experience (e.g., Groovy, Java, JavaScript, or similar) is an asset.
Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and defect management tools.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Experience supporting utility or enterprise application projects is considered an asset.
Strong expertise in test automation frameworks, scripting, and CI/CD practices.
Experience and/or working knowledge of Tricentis Tosca, Playwright, Java, JavaScript, GitLab, qTest, AI-assisted script generation, and various testing frameworks would be a strong asset
Build, enhance, and maintain scalable, reusable, and robust automation frameworks using Playwright that support efficient test execution and long-term maintainability.
Familiarity with qTest Test Management platform would be an asset.
Some knowledge of how to leverage AI-assisted automation tools and script generation capabilities to accelerate test development, improve productivity, and increase automation coverage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate test failures, perform root-cause analysis, and work collaboratively with development teams to resolve defects.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and teamwork skills with the ability to provide technical guidance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Tosca, Katalon Studio Certification and/or relevant industry-recognized certifications in test automation, quality assurance, or software testing would be considered a strong asset.
