Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Director of Construction to assist with greenfield and brownfield building for a large retailer in Canada.
The director will be managing a team of 8-10 with a chance of further expansion. They need experience building within industrial engineering and automation.
This role develops and implements construction strategies to enhance processes, facilities, and material handling equipment installations across networks. The role focuses on reducing costs, improving safety, and enhancing service quality. It involves working with senior leadership to approve new development applications and presenting construction and capital projects concepts for approval. Managing suppliers, consultants and contractors to ensure timely and budget-compliant program delivery is essential, as is supporting the team in tracking and publishing performance metrics.

Required Skills & Experience
- Industrial Engineering Expertise (Greenfield & Brownfield Projects)
- Proven experience leading both greenfield (new builds from the ground up) and brownfield (retrofits, expansions, or optimizations of existing facilities) industrial engineering initiatives. This includes designing efficient layouts, optimizing workflows, and ensuring scalability while balancing cost, safety, and performance.
- Advanced Automation Experience (Robotics-Driven, No Manual Labor Dependency)
- Strong background in implementing and managing highly automated environments, with a focus on robotics and minimal to no reliance on manual associates. Experience should include selecting, deploying, and optimizing automated systems to drive efficiency, throughput, and reliability
- Construction & Large-Scale Infrastructure Delivery
Hands-on experience overseeing construction projects, specifically large distribution centers or similar industrial facilities. Ability to manage timelines, budgets, vendors, and compliance requirements from early planning through to completion and operational readiness.
- Demonstrated People Leadership Experience
Prior leadership experience managing, mentoring, and developing teams. Ability to drive performance, foster collaboration, and support professional growth while maintaining accountability and strong organizational culture.
- Management of High-Value Capital Projects ( this portfolio will be $1.5B Portfolio)
- Experience overseeing large, complex capital portfolios (e.g., multiple distribution center builds), with accountability for strategic planning, financial oversight, and successful delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Willingness to Travel (Within Canada, Every 4–6 Weeks)
Flexibility and availability to travel domestically on a recurring basis to support project sites, team members, and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and progress across locations.
- Team Management (8–12 Direct Reports) in this role
Experience directly managing a mid-sized team , including setting priorities, delegating responsibilities, tracking performance, and ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals.
- Able to go on-site 5 days per week in Mississauga
