Job Description

Overview
Insight Global is seeking a senior Database Administrator to support a top Canadian Banking Client within their AML, Fraud, and Financial Crime Technology group. This role will play a critical part in managing and enhancing database platforms that support multiple high-impact programs across fraud detection, transaction monitoring, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
The successful candidate will work across several concurrent projects, supporting both database administration and development efforts within a complex, enterprise-scale banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and administer enterprise database environments with a primary focus on DB2, along with MySQL platforms
Support database design, development, and optimization efforts across AML, fraud, and compliance-related applications
Partner with engineering, data, and application teams to ensure database performance, scalability, and reliability
Perform database tuning, performance monitoring, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting
Contribute to database development activities including schema design, stored procedures, and query optimization
Support multiple projects/programs simultaneously within the financial crime technology space
Ensure proper data governance, security, and compliance standards are met within a regulated banking environment
Assist with database migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Have Qualifications

10+ years of experience as a Database Administrator in a banking or financial services environment
Strong hands-on experience with DB2 (core requirement)
Experience working with MySQL or similar relational databases
Proven experience managing enterprise-scale production databases
Strong understanding of database performance tuning, optimization, and high-availability setups
Experience supporting multiple concurrent projects/programs
Familiarity with regulatory or compliance-driven environments

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Prior experience supporting AML, Fraud, or Financial Crime technology teams
Exposure to cloud technologies (Azure preferred)
Experience with containerized environments such as Kubernetes, Docker, or OpenShift
Coding or scripting experience (e.g., Java or other programming languages)
Experience with database development work in addition to administration
