Test Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a Test Engineer to join the Automated Test Engineering team at a large utilities and critical infrastructure organization. This role will be based onsite in Peterborough, Ontario for the first 6 months, supporting production and training activities, and will then transition permanently to Concord (Vaughan).
This position focuses on automated testing of embedded electronic products in a manufacturing environment and requires hands‑on experience with software‑driven test systems, production equipment, and electronics testing.
Day‑to‑Day

- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve automated test systems supporting production and new product introduction
- Design and implement automated test scripts for embedded electronic products
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to integrate test solutions into manufacturing workflows
- Support the transition of legacy test systems to NI TestStand
- Troubleshoot and resolve automated test issues across hardware and software
- Establish preventative maintenance plans for production test equipment
- Manage documentation, spare parts, and inventory for test systems
- Collect and analyze test data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement
- Modify test equipment, fixtures, and processes to support evolving production needs

- 3–4 years of experience working with electronic test equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Hands‑on experience with NI TestStand and/or LabVIEW
- Working knowledge of C, C++, or C#
- Experience developing and maintaining automated (not purely manual) test systems
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and CAD documentation
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Experience with HP Agilent VEE
- Experience in embedded systems, electronics manufacturing, or industrial environments
- Familiarity with global manufacturing or factory standards
