Job Description

Insight Global is currently seeking an AVP, MGA Distribution Strategy for notable insurance company based out of Calgary or Toronto. This is a highly strategic leadership role responsible for shaping, expanding, and optimizing national MGA partnerships. This individual will act as the architect of the MGA strategy, defining the roadmap, identifying new opportunities, and influencing cross-functional teams to execute against growth, profitability, and compliance objectives.
This role sits at the intersection of underwriting, business development, and strategic partnership management, requiring someone deeply embedded in the MGA ecosystem with long-standing relationships, credibility, and a strong understanding of delegated underwriting authority. The AVP will serve as the primary relationship owner for MGA leadership teams, ensuring alignment with the companies appetite, performance targets, and long-term distribution strategy.
Day-to-day responsibilities include developing top- and bottom-line plans, nurturing high-value MGA relationships, scouting new partnership opportunities, and influencing internal teams across underwriting, operations, compliance, and marketing. This leader will also accelerate the company's MGA brand through events, training, and industry presence, while ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining strong governance across all delegated authority programs.
This is a high-impact, influence-based leadership role (not people management) ideal for someone who has spent a decade or more in the MGA space, understands the niche dynamics of the market, and can bring both strategic vision and deep industry relationships.

• Proven experience developing and executing strategic plans, including revenue, profitability, and distribution strategies
• Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and negotiate complex agreements
• Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to senior leaders, MGA partners, and cross-functional teams
• Experience working with underwriting teams, understanding portfolio performance, and evaluating book quality
• Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and ensure compliant business processes
Demonstrated success building cross-functional partnerships across underwriting, operations, compliance, and marketing

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
