Python Developer – Digital Health AI Platform
About the Role
The Python Developer will play a key role in building the data and AI infrastructure behind a national Canadian digital‑health initiative. This project focuses on developing an AI‑powered health information chatbot that helps people access clear, reliable, and easy‑to‑understand health guidance. You’ll contribute to the systems that ensure data quality, model reliability, and safe, compliant delivery of health information.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building robust backend systems, working with data pipelines, and collaborating closely with AI engineers.

Required Skills & Experience

Key Responsibilities
Develop scalable backend services, data workflows, and automation tools using Python

Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines, including scheduling and orchestration

Work with AI engineers to support model training, evaluation, and deployment

Implement data validation, quality checks, and monitoring frameworks

Integrate internal and external data sources into secure processing pipelines

Ensure compliance with Canadian health‑data privacy and security standards

Optimize performance of data processing and backend systems

Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning

Qualifications
Strong professional experience with Python (backend development or data engineering)

Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow

Solid understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, data modeling, and data quality practices

Proficiency with SQL and working with structured/unstructured datasets

Experience building APIs, microservices, or backend components is an asset

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)

Understanding of secure data‑handling practices, ideally in regulated environments

Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to collaborate across engineering teams
