Job Description

As a Senior Developer you will be working with junior members on the Software Development team, you will have exposure to every aspect of the software development cycle, and you will be encouraged to express your opinions and challenge assumptions.

You will report to an experience Software Development Manager and will assist in building, improving and maintaining pieces of a world-class Front End platform. This is a rare opportunity to build new technology that will operate at a massive scale and impact the lives of millions of Canadians.

We are working on building an internal Design System, and we are looking for people to help contribute to the React component library to facilitate it. The role would include: contributing components to the library, assisting in planning and ideation on the library, assisting teams with integration and usage of the library, and other general web development tasks within the organization.
What you'll do
o Cultivate a deep understanding of the portfolio of applications we utilize, along with their respective strengths and weaknesses, to provide solutions to existing and future challenges.
o Assist in the design of software components to enhance our portfolio.
o Construct design documents and documentation to aid in maintenance and code reuse.
o Through your knowledge of industry trends and tools, together with your own experiences, work with the team to improve our software, our environment, and our process.
o Provide guidance and direction to the development teams to tear down obstacles and keep initiatives on target and moving forward.
o Coaching and Mentorship to junior developers
o Translate project goals and product roadmaps into organized technical tasks.
o Organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
o Provide technical guidance and support in resolving critical issues.
o Offer your input and expertise to technical and non-technical audiences

o You care about ownership. You proactively seek out bugs and fix them. Occasionally, when bugs find you, you don't sweep them under the rug.
o You are experienced with software estimation, often confronted with complexity and uncertainty.
o You make decisions based on data. You are versed with tools to measure every aspect of the application.
o You have developed large applications in a team environment.
o You are not afraid of changes. Armed with excellent refactoring techniques, you work effectively with legacy code.
o You are a good communicator. You are able to present complicated solutions to non-technical audience in a simple and logical way.
