Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Controls Technician to support the design, execution, and transformation of building controls systems (alarms and sensors) —particularly for Refrigeration & HVAC assets—with a strong focus on IoT integration, real-time monitoring, and alarm management. The individual should have experience with controls and automation strategy, improvement, and reporting to assist with further planning and budgeting for digital assets. They will be assisting with dispatching the right technicians to solve the issue for when alarm or sensors go off.

Required Skills & Experience

- IoT experience with specialization within controls and automation for sensors (5+ years)
- Professional experience within Control Engineering (Manufacturing/Industrial/Commercial)
- Experience with real-time monitoring sensors
- Understanding tolerances and parameters for alarms (e.g., trigger alerts if a refrigeration unit is off for 5+ minutes or experiences a complete failure). - will not be hands on setting the alarms or sensors
- Ensure sensor perimeters are maintained and checking the data of alerts and sensors.
- Alarm Strategy & Response
- Develop and maintain alarm logic for asset failures or performance deviations.
- Collaborate with teams to define what actions are triggered post-alert (e.g., dispatch technician, shut down system, notify stakeholders).
- Controls Standardization & Architecture
Contribute to the development of standardized controls specifications across departments (e.g., grocery, pharmacy) based on operational and regulatory needs.
- Support the design of scalable, hardware-agnostic network architecture for controls systems.
- Digital asset management experience
- Experience with asset inventory management tools (a CMMS) and maintaining accurate records of assets
- Track sensor performance, asset health, and maintenance history to provide insights on alerts, failures to help with further strategy on asset reliability, budgeting..etc.
- Experience reporting data and presentation with tools such as Excel and Powerpoint

- Large retail experience
- Experience working with sensors for HVAC and refrigeration assets
