Job Description

Overview:
The DevOps Platform team at RBC is seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer to support a critical phase of their cloud transformation initiative. This role will focus on driving the migration of applications from on-premises infrastructure to Azure, ensuring operational readiness, platform stability, and alignment with RBCs cloud governance standards.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring deep technical expertise, strong decision-making capabilities, and the ability to collaborate across platform, application, and security teams.

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Have Qualifications:
810 years of experience in cloud engineering or DevOps roles
Financial enterprise experience, ideally within RBC or similar environments
Proven ability to make sound technical decisions independently, within RBCs tooling and governance frameworks
Strong experience with Azure (primary) and AWS (secondary)
Expertise/ Tech stack in:
Azure File Shares, Blob Storage, AKS/Kubernetes, Azure SQL
Terraform for infrastructure provisioning
Splunk for logging and monitoring
Lumina (RBCs internal SIEM platform)
Familiarity with DevOps practices, SRE principles, and platform operationalization
Experience with incident management, monitoring, and production-readiness checklists
Ability to work across teams:
Application teams
Cloud services team
Cloud security team (especially around secrets management and validation)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Nice-to-Haves:
Experience with Dynatrace for monitoring
Familiarity with Atlassian suite migration (Jira, Confluence)
Exposure to Artifactory migration and Ansible automation
