Insight Global is looking to hire an Engineer focused on assessing, integrating and launching IOT equipment related to energy consumption for one of North America's largest submetering firms. You will be sitting out of Toronto - Hybrid 3 days on site.
You will be joining a dynamic Engineering team and be responsible for the full end to end roll out of any new meter intakes, or upgrades. This will include understanding and documenting how the hardware works from hands on perspective, defining use/design standards and best practices, creating technical documentation of standard operating practices in order to operationalizing the entire company for use of newly onboarded technology.
The ideal candidate will have a mix of networking, IOT background, along with documentation with an interest in working with sensors, meters and being curious. You will like to tinker, find solutions and innovate. Key Responsibilities will include

Key Deliverables and Goals
Short-term (3-6 months):
* Identify and resolve one critical technical bottleneck in the IoT energy monitoring system.
* Complete documentation for at least one major process (e.g., sensor configuration, troubleshooting guide).
* Propose a new tool or optimization technique to improve data accuracy or system uptime.
Long-term (6-12 months):
* Develop a detailed understanding of the entire system workflow and suggest process improvements.
* Lead or significantly contribute to a cross-functional project to enhance energy reporting capabilities.
* Facilitate a knowledge-sharing session on a relevant IoT topic or learning experience.

- 1-5 years of experience in similar role (Can be new grad w. internships or coop exp. or a more sr/tenured engineer)
- Experience/education as a electrical systems eng, mechatronics eng
- Strong documentation skills - Understanding/writing experience of SOPs, User Guides, Instructional guides
- Python scripting exp is preferred
- Working knowledge of IPs, Networking, Sensors, IOT, cellular operationalization
- Proficiency in reading schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams related to HVAC/Building systems.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret sensor data and make data-driven decisions for system optimization.
- Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with the appropriate regulatory bodies in this space: Measurement Canada, Electrical Safety Authority, TSSA, OEB, Industry Canada, CSA
- Understanding of common communication protocols (MODBUS, BACNET) and networking protocols (DHCP,TCP/IP, FTP)
- Experience with the following; Analyzing data, providing insights, Reviewing diagrams, blueprints and single line charts; Creating best practice documentation; Testing new equipment and providing recommendations
