$100k - $165k (estimate)

Job Description

If hired as Department Manager (Materials)
Time Allocation:
• 50% – Project Management & Oversight
o Oversee project managers and ensure timely project delivery
o Heavy involvement in project flow, forecasting, and workload planning
o Review upcoming business needs and resource allocation
• 35% – Personnel Management
o Hiring, onboarding, orientations
o Performance reviews, coaching, corrective action
o Rebuilding a culture of accountability and engagement
o Managing ~15 technicians, 1 field supervisor, 1 PM, and 1 group manager
• 15% – Strategic & Corporate Responsibilities
o Regional planning
o Corporate meetings
o Implementing new initiatives and rollouts
o Other duties as assigned
Additional Notes:
• Weekly field visits (~25% of time)
• 5 days in office; occasional WFH acceptable
• No company truck
• Bonus program tied to performance

If hired as Operations Manager
• Oversee broader office operations (35–40 employees)
• Support project delivery, staffing, and operational efficiency
• Partner with Matt (DM) or Josh (Ops) depending on structure
• Fast track to Principal
• Light travel outside Tulsa (fully paid)

If hired in a Hybrid Role of the two
• Blend of materials oversight + operational leadership
• Flexibility to shape the role based on strengths
• Could manage both technical teams and office operations
• 25% – Project Management & Oversight
o Oversee project managers and ensure timely project delivery

• 50% – Personnel Management
o Hiring, onboarding, orientations
o Performance reviews, coaching, corrective action

Required Skills & Experience

For Operations Manager:
• BS, engineering or related field
• 10+ years of experience in materials, construction management, geotechnical, or related field
• Set clear expectations and hold people accountable
• Manage highly technical staff and staff with no formal education
• Build trust and rapport across diverse personalities
• Be personable, present, and visible in the office
• Drive culture, engagement, and performance
• Bring energy, structure, and follow through
• Run the office with confidence and adaptability
• Comfortable managing 35-40 person office

For Materials Department Manager:
• 5+ years of materials testing experience
• Preferably 1+ year of project management in the materials testing industry
• Leadership capabilities and eager to grow with a company long term
• Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field
