Job Description

Mechanical Field Inspector – Data Center Construction
Role Overview
The Mechanical Field Inspector provides day‑to‑day quality oversight for mechanical systems installation on a data center construction site. This role ensures that all mechanical work—including HVAC, piping, equipment installation, hydronic systems, and related infrastructure—meets project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. The inspector serves as the primary point of contact for subcontractor QC teams and plays a key role in identifying issues early and driving timely resolution.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily field inspections of mechanical installations to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and approved submittals.

Serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractor QC personnel, coordinating inspection activities, documentation needs, and quality expectations.

Identify quality issues and nonconformances in the field, document findings clearly, and communicate them to construction and subcontractor teams.

Track follow‑up actions to ensure timely correction, re‑inspection, and closure of all identified issues.

Review mechanical field documentation, including inspection reports, checklists, test records, and equipment installation logs.

Ensure strict adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements across all mechanical scopes.

Perform TSQMP field verification, confirming that mechanical work aligns with the project’s Technical Safety & Quality Management Plan and that required quality controls are in place.

Support readiness checks for major milestones such as equipment setting, pressure testing, commissioning turnover, and client inspections.

Collaborate with construction managers, engineers, and trade partners to resolve field quality concerns and prevent recurrence.

Qualifications
Experience in mechanical inspection, QA/QC, or mechanical field engineering (mission‑critical or data center experience preferred).

Strong understanding of mechanical systems, installation standards, and construction documentation.

Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and submittals.

Skilled in issue identification, documentation, and follow‑up tracking.

Effective communication and coordination skills with field teams and subcontractors.
