Job Description

Work Summary:
1. Translating Analysis and Design documents and specifications (business requirements) into programs
2. Maintain and enhance custom developed software including: modify and test user data entry screens, batch processing, reports, queries and menus, etc.
3. Review of existing code, data and business process to support non-database functions.
4. Test program changes: Update test files, run tests, review results and determine the correctness of the program changes based on the requirements provided.
5. Troubleshoot, testing and debugging computer software to produce the required outcomes; Address abends, compilation errors and other processing errors.
6. Follow organization guidelines and procedures into all programs and follow all appropriate standards. Follow organization procedures for checking out source code, migrating changes, etc. Obtain user sign-off on all changes prior to moving to production.
7. Provide production support for applications.
8. Perform tasks related to correcting data and production process recovery. Use application logic to identify and correct data errors
9. Research and report on application logic.
10. Develop data analysis/summary reports as required by utilizing IBM and Microsoft tools
11. Assist with conversion from COBOL application to web-based application
12. Prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation
13. Enhance software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency

Required Skills & Experience

Must Haves
Experience developing and maintaining applications written using COBOL with IMS DB/DC experience, and JCL for IBM mainframe operating systems.
Candidates must have experience in the following tools:
o COBOL, IMS DB/DC, TSO, ISPF and MS Office.
o 3years minimum experience in: COBOL development on the mainframe JCL development and maintenance IMS development and maintenance
Understanding of full software development life cycle of design, development, integration testing and deployment
Preferred Qualifications:
o Sound knowledge of Management Information Systems including specific knowledge and best practices of analysis and design, applications development, databases, processes, procedures, report writing, and techniques.
o Broad range knowledge of operating systems, telecommunications and networking, client servers, security and privacy Experience with IBM IMS hierarchical and DB2 relation database a plus.
o Proven skills in application development including the use of WebFocus, Adobe Live Cycle, other Internet technologies, and techniques
