Apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design development testing and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. Designs develops and tests operating systems-level software compilers and network distribution software for medical industrial military communications aerospace business scientific and general computing applications.

Education/Experience
o Bachelors degree in computer science software engineering or relevant field required
o 5-7 years experience required
Responsibility level
o Exercises independent judgment with direction from supervisor

o Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to systems such as SQL VisualBasic etc Required
o Familiarity with github visual studio JIRA preferred.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
o Debug reverse engineer and modify VB.NET code and some DB records. Integrate and understand methods from another internal API.
o Work as part of a project team to coordinate code development and determine project scope and limitations
o Review project requests describing end user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FROM MANAGER:
1. To get started can you give me a quick overview of your team and what you do?
Develop and maintain an internal web application that generates customer-facing paperwork for our sales force. This position specifically will be working to enhance VB code related to our insurance business.

2. The person who will be successful in this role will be somebody who?
Will tread carefully not creating new problems when fixing the current problems. There are dependencies on other systems which provide data in specific formats. There are dependencies on other products which use the same logic. The ideal candidate is someone who is concerned not just about fixing this problem but also about not creating other problems elsewhere.

3. What would you say are the TOP 3 must-have skills youre looking for? Measurable skills technologies etc.
a. Visual Basic our tools code is written in VB so any foundational corrections we make will need to be made in VB. Contractor will need to step through the code and debug.
b. SOAP/JSON the reading and debugging of responses we receive to external WS calls.
c. SQL Server we use an SQL Server database for what isnt hardcoded. We maybe wont need to make changes but the contractor will need to understand the data structure for debugging purposes.

4. How many years of experience are you looking for? As you start to go through resumes what would stand out to you as the BEST candidate versus an AVERAGE candidate?

5. Does your team work standard core hours or does that vary?
Two people work US East Coast hours and one works UK hours.

6. Do you need someone with a particular degree or certification?
Experience/competence is more important than a degree or cert.

7. What are some of the performance indicators youll be looking for once this person ramps up? Meeting deadlines quality of work etc.
We have weekly meetings with business stakeholders to check progress and gather feedback. We have a 3-week release cycle to get updates through testing and into production. Quality of work has to be production-friendly.
