We are seeking a hands-on Automation / Controls Engineer to design, develop, and implement automated solutions within injection molding and sub-assembly operations. This role is responsible for leading automation projects from concept through completion, including working with vendors or internal teams, managing equipment specifications, and overseeing purchase orders to ensure projects meet cost, timing, and performance expectations. The engineer will design and validate systems involving robotics, conveyors, and automated pack-out processes, ensuring final solutions align with production goals and company requirements. This individual will program and troubleshoot PLCs, optimize cycle times, and ensure systems meet quality and production objectives in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The role requires close collaboration with a small team of engineers (1-2) and maintenance technicians while remaining highly hands-on with automation equipment and continuous improvement efforts.
Day to Day:
• Lead automation projects from concept through completion, including working with vendors or internal teams, equipment selection, and managing purchase orders
• Design and specify automated systems for injection molding and assembly processes, ensuring solutions meet cost, timing, and performance requirements
• Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLCs to achieve target cycle times, quality standards, and production goals
• Integrate and support robotics, conveyors, and automated pack-out systems, including part counting, container filling, and indexing
• Collaborate daily with a small team of engineers and maintenance technicians to support production and resolve issues
Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance automation performance, reduce downtime, and improve efficiency

Required Skills & Experience
Must Haves:
• Engineering degree or related experience
• 3+ years of industrial automation or controls
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and Ladder Logic
• Familiarity with conveyors and industrial sensors
1-2 years of controls troubleshooting experience within the workforce
