Construction Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Construction Field Technician at DLZ supports civil and infrastructure projects by performing field inspections, data collection, and construction observation activities. This role works closely with project engineers and clients to verify work aligns with plans, specifications, and safety standards. Daily tasks may include documenting field conditions, collecting measurements or samples, and preparing clear field reports. The position requires comfort working outdoors on active job sites, strong attention to detail, and dependable communication with project teams.


DAY TO DAY:

- Perform on‑site material testing of soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete during active construction.
- Conduct field inspections, sampling, testing, and routine maintenance of testing equipment.
- Interpret construction plans, specifications, and working drawings to ensure work meets project requirements.
- Collect, record, and organize field data, generate daily field reports, and track installed construction quantities.
- Communicate regularly with contractors, owners’ representatives, and project team members to keep all parties informed.
Follow all safety protocols and public health requirements while performing assigned duties.

Must Haves:
- Prior Construction Technician or Field Technician experience
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Ability to communicate and relay information accurately
High school diploma or above

Plusses:
- Asphalt Level 2 Technician Certification
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing Certification
