Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in the Dayton, OH area. This role will support the optimization of supplier relationships and their manufacturing processes by conducting supplier audits, supporting accurate completion and review of quality process documentation, and driving process improvements at the supplier level. Your role will involve collaboration with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to drive improvements in the supply chain while developing your expertise in advanced manufacturing technologies and supplier management. The Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, analyzing, and reviewing the procedures and processes involved in manufacturing and quality.

• Support suppliers in meeting customer specifications and industry standards by assisting with training, audits, and continuous improvement efforts
• Work with suppliers to address technical issues related to product quality and manufacturing processes
• Identify and qualify new manufacturing sources of supply for difficult to procure components
• Serve as the technical liaison between design engineers and suppliers to relay manufacturing requirements and request quotes from potential vendors
• Conduct and review analyses of part production processes, schedules, methods, and other data to implement process controls and better understand future requirements needed for customers’ manufacturing processes
• Lead the development and review of design failure mode and effects analyses (DFMEA) and process failure mode and effects analyses (PFMEA) to identify and assess design and manufacturing risks
• Drive suppliers’ execution of required documentation to meet PPAP/FAI accuracy and schedule requirements
• Drive technical execution of projects around focus areas of Industry 4.0 / Digital Factory / Model Based Enterprise / Advanced Manufacturing / Additive Manufacturing
• Perform accurate / professional documentation and presentation of technical data, analyses, and reports
• Review manufacturing instructions, methods, and processes to identify and improve customer efficiency
• Develop process strategy documentation outlining the technical and process changes and analyses
• Support active feedback between customers, suppliers, and the RGBSI A&D team to drive improvements
• Partner effectively with RGBSI A&D project/ program management, technical team, and customer to deliver according to agreed plans and schedules
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify technical challenges and contribute to solutions
• Manage deliverables and execute tasks according to schedule with minimal oversight
• Coach Suppliers through the production planning process, including any RCA or CAPA activities as needed
• Take part in training programs to enhance your knowledge of supplier development, quality control processes, and advanced manufacturing technologies
• Mentor junior engineers in manufacturing and quality engineering principles

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Material, Industrial, Aerospace)
• 4+ years of manufacturing or quality engineering
• Expertise in creating, editing, and controlling PFMEAs and Control Plans / DFMEA or PFMEA experience (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis)
• Ability to handle multiple projects at once
• Experience GD&T
• Ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance
Must be comfortable with travel to client sites depending on project, 0-40% (only US based)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• LEAN, Six Sigma, IATF16949, or other process certifications
• Expertise in APQP / FAI / PPAP requirements
• Experience with additive manufacturing processes
• Experience with Project Planning tools, such as MS Project
