Job Description
We are hiring backend Java engineers to support the entitlement portion of a large data migration.
The Java work is primarily integration and pattern-based enhancement within an existing Java services ecosystem. This individual will read transformed data from DB2, map it into Java objects, and feed it through established services to populate target entitlement tables. The environment is an on prem, legacy enterprise environment using Java 8.
The contract will be short-term through the end of October or sooner. It can sit remotely working EST or CST.
Responsibilities:
- Pull entitlement data from DB2 (including CLOB JSON payloads)
- Map DB outputs into Java objects and feed into existing Java services
- Extend/modify existing entity patterns (copy/adjust/repeat)
- Support backend batch jobs and internal REST endpoints as needed
- Troubleshoot and resolve data/processing issues in an enterprise runtime
- Collaborate closely with Python engineers producing transformation outputs

Required Skills & Experience
• 7+ years backend Java development (including v8) with Springboot services
• Batch processing and REST API service integration
• XML/JSON - for schema transformation
• DB2 (reading and mapping data from DB2 into Java objects)
• SQL
• working in legacy/J2EE ecosystems with established patterns + Ability to extend and modify existing service patterns efficiently
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with WebSphere Application Server (WAS 9 preferred) as a runtime context - No WebSphere administration/config required
• Basic conceptual knowledge of LDAP and JWT (awareness only; not implementing auth)
• Identity / entitlements exposure
• Payments knowledge - ACH / wires / templates
• Application Performance Monitoring / Logging software (Dynatrace /Splunk)
