Job Description

The Network Systems Engineer will support monitoring, tool integration, customer support, vendor coordination, and problem resolution in the OARnet Network Security Operations Center (NSOC). The NSOC provides operational security functions to support OARnet, which maintains and delivers services across the state’s 5,500-mile fiber-optic network backbone to support the connectivity relied upon every day by Ohio’s higher education, K-12 education, state and local government, public broadcasting, health care, and research communities.

Required Skills & Experience

Required Education/Experience:

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related systems area.

· 2 years of Python, experience in a Unix development environment.

· 2 years of Unix shell scripting, SVN, or GIT Version control, C/C++programming.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Desired Education/Experience:

· 1+ years working with ServiceNow.

· 1+ years working in a service provider DWDM IP/MPLS network environment.

· 1+ years of AWS Cloud development, Splunk and Nessus scanner administration.

· JNCIA certification

· JNCIS certification
