Job Description

Insight Global is assisting a client in identifying a Project Manager in the renewable construction space for a direct hire opportunity. The hiring manager is willing to consider a remote candidate if they have the exact experience needed, otherwise this employee must sit in either the Canal Fulton, OH area or Colorado Springs, CO. The role involves managing multiple projects with 3-4 different customers concurrently, each with 1-2 projects, resulting in a workload of 6-8 projects at any given time. Responsibilities include conducting weekly calls and tracking progress throughout the engineering phase, collaborating with internal designers, the operations team, external engineering resources, and electrical contractors to ensure tasks are completed on time. This entails overseeing the submission of drawings to customers, completing clear documentation, coordinating with procurement for material purchases, scheduling integrations, and closely engaging with customers providing equipment to address schedule changes effectively. The job also entails providing turnkey solutions where customers purchase equipment, assemble it on a skid, wire it up, document the process, and pivot during onsite labor challenges, thereby streamlining schedules and reducing costs.
Customer Interaction:
o Act as the primary liaison with customers, ensuring a clear understanding of project requirements and objectives.
o Foster positive client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
o Serve as the primary liaison between the customer and operations during first article inspections (FAIs).
Scope Development:
o Lead the development of detailed project scopes in collaboration with customers and internal teams.
o Ensure alignment between project scope, technical feasibility, and business objectives.
Bill of Materials (BOM):
o Define and manage comprehensive bill of materials for renewables systems.
o Collaborate closely with procurement and supply chain teams to optimize material sourcing.
Quoting:
o Oversee the creation of accurate and competitive project quotes based on established scopes and BOMs.
o Provide transparent and detailed explanations of cost breakdowns to customers.
Project Management:
o Take on the role of technical project lead, guiding cross-functional teams to successful project completion.
o Ensure adherence to project timelines, technical specifications, and quality standards.
o Track key costs drivers throughout the project.
o Help establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for technical integration work tasks.

Required Skills & Experience

3-5 years of Project Management in the electrical utility, or utility scale renewable
3-5 years in the construction industry
Strong understanding of the full cycle of power systems projects, from design to manufacturing
Renewable industry, power conversion skids, batter storage sites, converting AC / DC power, invertors, switch gears, electrical panels, substations, etc.
Able to obtain NABCEP PV Certification within the first year of employment.
Technical savvy and experience with different applications such as Excel, MS Project, Procore, or Beam
Comfortable with travel to plants 2-3 times a month (Ohio and Colorado)

Electrical engineering background or degree
Utility scale solar industry
