Job Description

Overview:

Insight Global is in search of a Senior Quality Gear Manufacturing Engineer to support one of our largest industrial manufacturing clients. We are looking for a Quality Engineer who has a passion for Machining and gearing as well as a keen eye for detail. This resource will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our various gearing products, from design to production, as well as tracking defects and investigations. This means working closely with our engineering, manufacturing, customer service, and supply chain teams during the production line, inspection, investigation, and approval process of gearing systems to resolve any quality issues. This person will be spending a portion of their time on the shop floor, supervising the aforementioned processes, as well as spending time in an office setting filing reports, updating inventory, as well as other necessary duties. You will also mentor and coach other quality engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of quality excellence.



Day to Day:



* Plan, execute, and oversee quality inspections and tests on machining and gear components and assemblies, using advanced tools and equipment

* Analyze test data and generate quality reports, identifying any non-conformities or defects, and recommending solutions

* Develop and implement quality standards, procedures, and documentation, following ISO 9001, AS9100, and other relevant regulations

* Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for any quality issues, using structured problem-solving techniques such as 8D, DMAIC, etc.

* Provide technical support and guidance to the engineering and manufacturing teams on quality-related matters, such as design reviews, process validations, risk assessments, etc.

* Collaborate with the customer service team to handle any customer complaints or feedback regarding machining and gear quality

* Conduct quality audits and assessments, both internally and externally, to ensure compliance and continuous improvement

* Lead and participate in quality improvement projects and initiatives, using quality tools and methods such as Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, etc.

* Evaluate and select suppliers and vendors for machining and gear products, ensuring that they meet our quality requirements

* Train and supervise other quality engineers and technicians, ensuring that they follow the quality policies and procedures

Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of experience working with machining products as a quality engineer

o Understands machining, products that come off inspection, why was it made incorrectly -- how to rework, scrap,

o Understands cost of poor quality-tracking defects, liaison of manufacturing engineering/ supply chain materials group, investigation, heat treat, etc.

- Experience working with Raw Materials that come in from an outside supplier -- (spiral gears, bevel gears, spine gears, spur gears, internal ring gears, etc.)

- Associate's Degree -- (mechanical engineering, supplier quality/ quality, machining, etc.)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience with SAP
