Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Mechanical Piping Designer for one of our engineering consulting clients. They are working with lead engineer on projects, the designer will be drawing piping systems.



T-4 Responsibilities:

* Performs routine and complex assignments involving planning and conducting design and layout of non-complex projects or portion of a complex project.

* Performs field measurements independently.

* Selects and implements designs, techniques, layouts and plans.

* Reviews and analyzes designs to determine layout requirements.

* May assist lead engineer in calculating design data.

* Learns and applies techniques for documenting project scope.

* Prepares technical portion of equipment specifications/materials lists, etc.

* Assists in preparing cost estimates and reports.

* May serve as discipline lead and direct work of other designers/drafters.

* May serve as Project Leader on routine, single-discipline projects.

* Promotes use of and participates in development of company design and production standards.

* Reviews drawings and documents to ensure compliance with the company's design and production standards.

* Assists in the education and development of design staff and acts as a resource for design questions.

* Researches routine code issues.

* Keeps current on "state of the art" in their design discipline through review of periodicals and continuing education.

* Maintains neat and organized work area and project files which allows efficient access to project information required by other team members.

* Assists with whatever duties are required to deliver a quality project on schedule and within budget.

T-5 Responsibilities

* Performs independently or may leads others in performing field measurements.

* May perform and/or direct construction support/management on simple projects.

* Calculates design data.

* Reviews and checks work of other designers/drafters.

* Coordinates other discipline tasks with their own.

* Checks designs and drawings prepared by others.

DISCIPLINE-SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Performs and may review complex pipe routing and layout.

* Performs, reviews and may instruct staff on completion of routine and simple pipe routing and layouts.

* Performs, reviews and may instruct staff on completion of piping plans, sections, details and isometrics.

* Performs, reviews and may instruct staff on preparation of drawings including piping plans, sections, details, isometrics, PFDs and PIDs.

* Performs, reviews and may instruct staff on techniques for documenting bill of materials.

* Performs complex and routine hydraulic calculations including incompressible flow, compressible flow and networks.

* Performs pipe support design.

* Performs simple hydraulic calculations involving incompressible flow.

* Calculates thermal expansion.

* Calculates heat transfer and stress analysis of piping systems.

* Prepares, reviews and may instruct staff on piping specifications.

Required Skills & Experience

* 10+ years of experience in mechanical / piping design.

* Proficient in the use of computer for design and understand AutoCAD

* Revit experience

* Must have knowledge of applicable codes.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other online collaboration tools.
