Job Description

An employer is seeking a Technical Writer in the Cincinnati, OH area for a contract opportunity. This individual will be joining the test, systems, and engineering team of a large aerospace company and will be supporting the documentation and technical writing of a variety of different systems. In this role, you will be documenting user manuals for many different data systems (both home-grown and purchased) that are all used by the technicians and cell operators to collect data and complete tests. Currently, there are varying degrees of documentation. This individual will be required to standardize documentation to make it cohesive and to polish already existing manuals. There are 12 total systems that require attention, working with around 10,000 pieces of documentation. Specific deliverables include:



Technical Publications -expert assistance in preparation and publication

- survey/lead internal experts to codify client's terminology, grammar, and visual aids, including diagrams that relate connections or information exchange

- Prepare and/or modify our document formats/framework to create a consistent and re-usable framework that enables unification of our documentation to improve usability, understanding and ease of use.

- Edit/re-write existing technical content (aimed at class(es) of customers)



Requirements management -- assistance in capture, collating and organization of technical requirements & specifications.

- Survey intended customer program-specific requirements in order to identify a framework for a database that aids in assignment, allocation, decomposition, verification and tracking.

o Utilize/leverage requirements terminology to remove ambiguity associated with said requirements

- Define and build a proof-of-concept data-base for the management of customer requirements for said program(s), including:

o Guiding/specifying possible tools to aid in parsing/extraction of necessary content

o Classify and/or assign requirements to aid their management

Required Skills & Experience

- 10+ years of experience technical writing preferred experience in computer/data systems, software manuals, or related

- Basic understanding of networking, ethernet, computer hardware, and traffic, data collection or data management
