Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in payroll processing. This position is responsible for coordinating department workload and maintaining the monthly work calendar which includes ensuring timely payments and all ancillary duties including garnishment processing. Acts as a subject matter expert and/or resource to others in the area of payroll processing, including branches and direct reports.
The Payroll Supervisor will be leading a team of 6-7 people. The Payroll Supervisor will be responsible for
supporting the senior specialist, training the team, completing documentation, and making sure processes are updated. This individual will be part of the payroll department's leadership team.
· Regularly communicate with Payroll Manager. Ensure that communication from leadership cascades to the team in an accurate and timely manner concerning changes and system status
· Provides regular communications regarding the status of required activities
· Accountable for identifying and addressing process improvement opportunities
· Coordinates with cross-functional partners to evaluate needs and recommend solutions.
· Demonstrates working knowledge of Payroll Practices and HR policies impacting payroll
· As a subject matter expert (SME), researches, analyzes and responds to complex matters requiring comprehensive knowledge of payroll policies and procedures
· Coordinate schedules and provide oversight of training for new Specialist training as needed
· Coordinate with HRIS Supervisor and the Payroll Manager to ensure smooth transition of Acquisitions.
· Recommends or participates in the development of new procedures and policies related to payroll operations; identifies training issues and/or problem prone processes to ensure optimal efficiency and error-free operations
· Assist in the review, testing and implementation of HRIS upgrades

· 3-5+ years of multi-state payroll experience (excellent understanding of payroll and processes)
· 3+ years of experience in a leadership/supervisory role
· Bachelor's degree preferably in Accounting or Business Administration
· Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
· Familiarity with computer-generated payroll and accounting reports, wage and hour law, and various state tax forms and regulations
· Experience with mergers and acquisitions
Excellent communication and leadership skills
· Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and/or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred
