A local community bank is seeking a Senior Credit Underwriter that will sit hybrid onsite in Columbus Ohio. The Senior Credit Underwriter will assist the Chief Credit Officer in analyzing and monitoring credit risk. They'll present loan analysis to Loan Committee and Board of Directors, interact and work collaboratively with loan officers and loan staff in order to establish an exemplary credit culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Be a leader in a growing bank and establish new and updated processes for growing and monitoring a commercial loan portfolio.
Contribute to strategic decisions on loan policy. Helps to monitor financial forecasts and markets and recommends adjustments to lending focuses as necessary.
Review and analyze financial statements, tax returns, and projections supporting commercial loan presentations.
Possess sufficient working knowledge of tax returns and financial statements of all kinds.
Demonstrate desire and ability to keep up with new developments in tax issues and financial analysis.
Conduct underwriting review of commercial loan presentations.
Experience with both C&I and CRE.
Actively participate in presentation and discussion of commercial loan presentations to the Loan Committee and Board of Directors.
Perform annual commercial loan account reviews for significant credit relationships, with written analysis including recommendations as to loan grading and any required actions.
* Collaborate with employees across functional areas of bank in order to complete tasks.
* Interact with loan officers during review of loan presentation, communicate evolving expectations of loan committee to officers, and enhance loan officers understanding of credit standards and current underwriting guidelines.
* Ensures adherence to Credit Policy.
* Other duties as assigned.
Minimum of 5 years' experience as an analyst or underwriter is required
Experience working in a community bank -- understand the diversity of community banks and variety of tasks they'll perform
Experienced underwriting C&I (commercial and industrial) loans
Experienced underwriting SBA (Small Business Association) loans
Ability to work independently and collaborate with others -- will speak up to provide suggestions and improvements for the organization
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Experience with automated loan operation system, LOS, prefer nCino
