Job Description
Day to Day:
A client of Insight Global is seeking a Oracle Database Admin to provide technical support for all aspects of database management such as database lifecycle management, monitoring, support, disaster recovery, compliance, and standards. Research new Oracle database versions, features, tools, and technologies with an Enterprise perspective to meet customer needs while maintaining a secure database environment. Research, benchmark, and suggest improvements to database support processes, customer experience (CX) improvements, and compliance requirements. Participate in and manage database related projects, database security patching audits, and compliance reviews and testing. Develop new and update existing database technology & related documentation as needed. Participate on customer driven and division/department projects.
* Managing Oracle database versions 12c and 19c
* Oracle Enterprise Manager
* Database Lifecycle Management
* Oracle Fleet Management module to deploy automated patching
* Manual database patching and database upgrades
* Installing Oracle release updates (RU) security patches on data guard, multitenant, stand alone and Real Application Cluster (RAC) databases
* Database performance management
* Database hardware configuration
* Scripting (shell, Perl, etc.)
* SQL structured query language
* Linux/UNIX operating systems (RedHat and AIX)
* Work well with a geographically distributed team
* Quickly learn new technologies and applies them with an enterprise perspective
* Act in a self-directed manner, independently researching tools/libraries/technologies or solving a problem with minimal oversight and instructions
Required Skills & Experience
Must Haves:
* 6+ years of Oracle Database Administration experience
* Knowledge managing Oracle DB versions 12c and 19c
* Experience in Oracle Data guards
* Background installing Real Application Clusters (RAC) databases
* Experience with Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Plusses:
* Scripting knowledge
* Cloud computing platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services
* Packaging or Manufacturing industry background
